The Great American Turquoise Rush is an excellent example of how history can be written in an enjoyable format without diluting the complicated historical narrative it tells. I hope Philip and Mike have plans for another publication on he incredible next chapter in American Turquoise Mining History.
Philip Chambless weaves his many years of acquired stories and documentations into a tapestry of American Turquoise as only he can. His forty-five plus years of living and prospecting in the Wild West are documented in this treasure trove collection of oral history, researched facts and lived experiences. It is a true masterpiece!
I am really excited to finally have this book in my possession. I think the approach to covering the 'history of turquoise' by isolating a set time period is a smart one. That allows for more focused detail to be provided vs. broad sweeping statements that don't really have meat to them. For turquoise lovers, rockhounds and people passionate about the history of the west (like me) this book is a must have.
